Cole Damon earned a scholarship for beta testing.Cole Damon, senior, was presented with a scholarship check from the BLUR app on Sep. 24th in a surprise presentation at the gym. He spent the summer beta testing the mobile app by completing required tasks, keeping notes, and submitting reports. He learned about the scholarship opportunity from Pius counselor Dr. Montoya. The counseling team is always looking for scholarship opportunities that match Sartan talents, and Damon’s were a great fit.

Damon described the app as a mix of a messaging and games app, with an emphasis on social interaction. The app encourages users to play its games, message, and refer people by awarding points that can be used to win real world prizes. Once 100 points is reached, users can enter to win a prize.

Damon, a self-proclaimed techie, has been taking apart and learning on his own since childhood. This self guided discipline makes him an ideal student for the online courses Pius offers. Damon is currently enrolled in an online AP computer science class that can potentially award college credit. His goal is to apply that credit and scholarship award to Neumont College of Computer Science in Salt Lake City. We have no doubt he will do just that.
