SPX medals in French Nationals, 3 State Champs

French Flair: SPX takes 3 State Champion titles in French this spring and national medals with the National French Contest

The results are in for le Concours National de Français or National French Contest, a competitive national French exam which was taken this spring 2018 by 74,250 students of French in 50 states. 2018 marks the 9th consecutive year that our school earns one or more state championship titles in French as well as national medals.

Three Sartans are State Champions this year and earn national silver medals:

  • Freshman Charlie Woodcock and senior Ely Teran are co state champions in ​​French level 1--they received the same score; it has never happened before! Both students also ranked 6th in the nation, competing against 18,178 students in their respective level.

  • Junior Brandon Baggerly is the state champion in French level 2, ranking 12th in the nation and competing against 18,367 students in level 2.

Other notable accomplishments:

  • In French level 1, freshman Trinity Aragon placed 4th in the state

  • In French level 2, juniors Ciara Del Frate placed 3rd in the state, sophomore Darcy Robinson 4th and junior Leslie Ortiz 5th, all three receiving a national bronze medal for their national ranking. Sophomore Aaliyah Turrietta also ranked in the top ten in the state, taking the 7th place.
