There have been several changes to the Athletic facility this past summer and into the beginning of this school year. The Athletic Training Room was expanded to accommodate all of our athletes. Our athletes are able to get in, get treated, and out to practice quicker than ever before.
The Sartan Shop has moved to a new location. It is no longer in the gym lobby. The Sartan Shop is now in the front of the school, right next to the west archway. This expansion will allow us to carry more inventory as well as be easier access for everyone. I ask that you be patient with us as we work to increase our uniform inventory. We will start to carry a broad range of pants, skirts and shorts sizes. Yet, some items may still have to be special ordered. A big thanks goes to Mr. George Chadwick and his wife Pam for their help getting us clothing and display racks and our check-out counter from Sports Authority. Please come in and check out the Sartan Shop and give us your honest feedback, we want to know what you think.
Wrestling is now back in the auxiliary gym and out of the smaller and unaccommodating wrestling room (now the Sartan Shop). The team has received a new set of wrestling practice mats and will have direct access to the locker room, training room and weight room. The wrestlers will no longer have to venture outside to get to these needed facilities. The auxiliary gym will provide the program with three times as much space and make the program much more visible, which Coach Alley and I hope will grow the program even more.
All the changes I have mentioned would not have been possible without the guidance and labor from Mr. David Sullivan and the entire St. Pius X maintenance and custodial staff. They were and still are the backbone from which we operate. If you see one of these individuals around campus or at a game, do not hesitate to say thank you, they deserve it.
Financially, these projects would not have been possible without Ms. Robyn Dow and DECA. It was their financial support that made this all possible. They are an amazing group to which we are indebted. So the next time you are at a game, make sure to buy a drink or get something to eat; the kids benefit from it.
Please keep in mind that the hard work by the athletes, coaches and everyone behind the scenes truly deserves all of our support.
