Family Studies Embraces Fall Flavors
Family Studies Embraces Fall Flavors

by Tami Plummer

I say this every year, but Fall truly is the most wonderful time of the year in the Culinary Arts room. With smells of roasting chile, baked apples, and pumpkin cookies, it is hard to resist stopping by for a sample. This is a really exciting time for all the Culinary Arts classes, as they have the opportunity to work with delicious fall produce, while learning how to cook and advancing their skills.

Not only are the Culinary Arts classes vibrant during this time, but both Developmental Psychology and Independent Living are working on authentic projects. Developmental Psychology is currently working on their Family Tree project and will move forward with their Wedding Project. Independent Living is continuing to work on their campaign to stop bullying. In fact, for homecoming week, Coach Mendoza was able to bring in Eric Martinez, local actor, to rally the students up to put an end to bullying!

As this beautiful time of the year approaches us, and before we get into the hustle and bustle of the holidays, I would like to leave you with this quote. “Slow down and enjoy life. It is not only the scenery you miss by going too fast- you also miss the sense of where you are going and why.” - Eddie Cantor

Below are some pictures created by Culinary Arts I and II students.

I wish you all a Happy Fall!
