Hall of Honor 2012
2012 Outstanding Alumnus, Vincioni and Principal's Awards
Phyllis Schubert , class of 1966, was honored with the first Outstanding Alumnus Award in the Hall of Honor which also included the Vincioni and Principal's Leadership Awards during Homecoming 2012. The Outstanding Alumnus is an individual whose life inspires new generations by embodying the St. Pius X motto "Teach Me Goodness, Discipline, Knowledge." The alumnus has demonstrated an outstanding contribution to the SPX community, a profession, and/or the community at large.
Phyllis has been an exemplary model of leadership from her days at SPX when she was a cheerleader and class officer to her career responsibilities as the president of the NM Society of Clinical Laboratory Sciences from 1994-1996 and her position as Director, Compliance and Regulatory Affairs, TriCore Reference Laboratories. She has worked to foster the caring relationships of her classmates from 1960s.
The Vincioni Award was presented to Paul Barabé, a graduate of the class of 1964, who serves as vice president of member services for the Rio Rancho Chamber of Commerce and several boards, including the Rio Rancho Planning and Zoning Board. He reinvigorated the St. Pius X Alumni Council to create the Hall of Honor and first Alumni Council endowment. Mr. Barabé built a three-decade career in the airline and hospitality industry which carried him afar, but he returned home to build a lasting legacy in the alumni community of St. Pius X.
Dr. Barbara Rothweiler, principal, presented Cathy and Rich Luna, parents of three St. Pius X graduates, with the Principal's Award. Dr. Rothweiler noted that the Rich and Cathy have worked tirelessly to support St. Pius and its athletics. Rich served as president of the Athletic Boosters and as a member of the SPX Foundation Board for several years. Cathy was the football team parent. Both Rich and Cathy worked to make the SPX Jamie Tinnin Golf Classic and the SPX Mardi Gras dinner dance successful.
