  • Congratulations to Senior Leo Kim! Leo has been selected as a semi-finalist for the National Merit Scholarship Program.   Leo exceeded the selection score for New Mexico of 210 on the National Merit Qualifying Test last spring.  He moves on to the next step.
  • 2021 Homecoming is upon us!   We are excited to be able to present these activities since Covid took them away from us last year.  Check the school calendar for a list of events, dates and times.  Due to Covid-19 concerns and close contact we are limiting ALL EVENTS FOR SPX STUDENTS except for the following:  Coronation - Parents and family members only; and, Football Game - All are welcome to the football game on Saturday.
  • The Advancement Office is holding its annual Jamie Tinnin Memorial Sporting Clay Shooting Fundraiser to benefit the St. Pius X Foundation.  The event will be held at the Tinnin Hunt Club in Bernardo, NM (about 45 miles south of Albuquerque)  on Saturday, October 30, 2021.  Teams of five clay shooters are welcomed but individual clay shooters are invited also.  Sponsorships are available.
  • In the last week, there has been one new Covid-19 case reported. Also, cases of Strep and Mono are increasing.  These are contagious diseases.  Please, keep Nurse McNew informed of any illness your student may have so that we can keep the community of students and teachers as healthy as possible.
  • IMPORTANT:  School Calendar Update:  A couple of changes have been made to the calendar this year only that you need to be aware of:
    • Fall Break will be October 18 and October 19.
    • Thanksgiving break will be November 22 through November 26.
    • The hope is that everyone will enjoy the extended break, catch up on rest, family and homework and ward off any illnesses.
  • Student makeup pictures will be on October 5th in room 327.  Mr. Samora sent an email to parents regarding ordering and makeup picture information.
  • School-wide testing will be administered to freshmen, sophomores and juniors on October 13th.  Freshmen will take the PreACT 9 and sophomores and juniors will take the PSAT/NMSQT.  Parents and students will be notified for release and pick up times at the end of testing.  Seniors will have the day off on this day.
  • All students have a school subscription for Method Test Prep, an online course that helps students improve their ACT and SAT scores.
    • Students can listen to math, verbal, and writing tutorials, and each tutorial is accompanied by a quiz to test student mastery.
    • The program is highly adaptive and keeps track of a student’s strengths and weaknesses.
    • Students have access to a large pool of practice questions and receive instant feedback upon completion of each question.
