“Restore All Things in Christ”SPX Mission statement

  • Spring is upon us. The winds are blustery, temperatures are going up and the daffodils are blooming on the campus. Spring break is also upon us, and it is important to keep our students healthy and safe.
  • Drug Testing is ongoing at St. Pius X High School. The testing program is described in detail in the Student/Parent Handbook online. All testing is performed on a random basis with no warning to the student. Athletes in season are added twice to increase their likelihood of being selected for testing to ensure clean sports teams. St. Pius X High School is a CLIA certified school. Both urine tests and saliva tests are used as each case indicates. All testing is performed by the school nurse.
  • Speaking with Administrators and Teachers - Every parent knows the frustration of having a student who is not succeeding academically. The situation with the student may be a one-time-only situation or an ongoing problem. It is important when speaking with an administrator or teacher that they are here to help you solve problems and offer solutions to increase the students’ chances for academic success. Whether the conversation is in person, over the phone, or internet, please keep the conversation on a professional level and refrain from making accusations, not in evidence, or using inappropriate language.
  • Cell Phones and Earbuds - Students cannot use devices (cell phones, earbuds, and smartwatches) inside of any building from 7:55 am until the final bell rings at the end of the day, unless permission is granted by a staff member. This has become a safety concern in hallways during passing periods.
    • Allowed devices (cell phones and smartwatches) must be placed in the designated area assigned by the teacher upon entering the classroom.
    • During the lunch periods, cell phones and earbuds may be used outside, in the cafeteria, and in the gym lobby.
    • Earbuds/earphone use is at the teacher's discretion when the lesson requires listening to a device during instructional class time.
    • Earbuds/earphones may not be used in hallways during passing periods.
    • Cell Phone and earbud/earphones confiscation policies and technology acceptable use policy are delineated in the student/parent handbook
  • Spring Break is a great time to relax but also to catch up on schoolwork.
    • Talk with your student about their community service hours.
    • This next week affords many hours to complete this graduation requirement.
    • The end of the year is coming fast!
We don’t control life, but we can control how we react to it!
