The St Pius boys rugby team completed their spring season with a victory in the 3rd place match at the NM State Rugby Tournament on 14 May at St Pius HS. The lads worked hard all season, in spite of injuries to several of our emerging players. The team was led this year by SPX senior Cian Jones, a 4-year rugby player. Cian was awarded a rugby scholarship at New Mexico Tech for next year. The rugby team will be returning several rising seniors next spring, and the prospects for the team are exciting. The team was coached by Mark Neice (20 years at SPX) and Red Jones (3 years). Practice for next year will begin in February 2023, and we invite anyone who wants to learn about this life-long sport to come out then.
