“Restore All Things in Christ”SPX Mission statement

  • Thank you, parents, and guardians, for a great beginning of the new school year. It is evident that students are happy to be back and are synchronized with the procedures of SPX. Below are answers to FAQ’s asked by parents.
  • Attendance, Tardies and Early Dismissal
    • All student absences must be called into the Attendance Line (505-831-8412) by the student’s parent/guardian before 9:00 am on the day of the absence. Failure to do so will result in an unexcused absence for the day and the student will not receive credit for work on that day.
    • Any student who is tardy to school must report to the Attendance Office upon arrival at school. Seven tardies* in a semester will result in the student being issued two one-hour detentions. Nine tardies in a semester result in a Saturday School and every additional 4 tardies result in additional Saturday Schools. *Any tardy due to medical appointments with supporting documentation will not be included in this count.
    • If a student needs to be dismissed early, they must provide a written note to the attendance office with a parent/guardian signature. If they do not have a note, we ask that the parent/guardian write a note and email it to the attendance office. The email address is [email protected]. The student will then be issued an early dismissal pass. No student will be allowed to leave without a parent/guardian signature.
  • What is the procedure if my student is sick or has an appointment?
    • If a student has an appointment, the parent must write a note prior to the appointment to release the student from school to attend the appointment. A parent signature is needed on the note.
    • If the student’s appointment is early in the morning and causes the student to be late to school, the parent should write the excuse the day prior to the appointment.
    • Upon receipt of the parent note, the student will be given a pass to be released from class.
    • These procedures take place in the Dean of Students Office.
    • If a student is sick and stays home, the parent should call the Attendance Office to report the absence prior to 9:00am.
    • A call to the parent will be made after 9:00am if no call is received for the safety of the student. When the student returns to school a parent note and doctor note must be presented to the Attendance Office.
  • Uniforms
    • Girls and boys wear khaki or black pants or shorts with a white or black SPX polo shirt.
    • Students may wear solid black or solid blue jeans with no holes. Traditional jeans must be blue or black. Jeans may not be frayed, have ragged hems, patches, holes, faux holes or the like.
    • Students may wear SPX khaki shorts with the school logo. Hems may be no shorter than 2 inches above the knee. Shorts shall not be frayed, have ragged hems, patches, holes or the like.
    • Outerwear must reflect St Pius X wear if the student wants to wear outerwear in the classroom.
    • Seniors may wear a solid color polo shirt of any color.
    • All uniform items are required to be purchased in the St. Pius X Uniform Shop on campus. No other store has the rights to sell SPX apparel.
    • Only SPX outerwear or a plain black sweater, pullover or cardigan will be allowed.
  • Final Exams
    • The first semester finals are scheduled for Friday, December 16th through Thursday, December 22nd. Students only need to be on campus when they have a scheduled final. Per SPX policy, no finals will be administered early. Students who miss a final for any reason should contact Mrs. Ducaj at [email protected] as soon as possible to arrange for a time to make up the final. The makeup final will be scheduled during finals whenever possible. Any finals that cannot be made up during the scheduled finals will be administered on the following Saturdays: January 14th, 21st and 28th. A $50 fee will be charged for each missed final unless the student missed the final due to illness (doctor’s note is required) or a death in the family (documentation required). The final exam schedule will be available later this month. PLEASE NOTE: If an athlete in a winter sport misses a final exam and makes it up in January 2023, that athlete will be ineligible to participate in his/her winter sport until all final exams are made up and the student eligibility is determined.
