Boys Basketball
The St. Pius X varsity boys basketball team continued its strong play in District 5-4A action, securing a 75-44 road victory over Valencia last Tuesday. The Sartans improved their overall record to 15-5 and remain unbeaten in district play at 3-0. No stats submitted.
Looking ahead, they will face two more district opponents on the road this week:
- Tuesday, Feb. 4 – at Highland
- Thursday, Feb. 6 – at Belen
The junior varsity team suffered a narrow 41-35 loss to Valencia, dropping to 8-7 overall and 2-1 in district play.
The C-Team earned a commanding 57-24 victory over Valencia.
Girls Basketball
The varsity girls basketball team fell at home to Valencia 41-31, bringing their overall record to 12-7 and their district record to 2-1. No stats submitted.
They will look to bounce back with two home games this week:
- Tuesday vs. Highland
- Friday vs. Belen
Both games will be played in St. Sebastian Gymnasium, with varsity tipping off at 7 p.m. and junior varsity at 5:30 p.m.
The junior varsity team secured a victory in its only game last week, defeating Valencia at home.
Powerlifting
The St. Pius X powerlifting team kicked off its season at Cibola High School on Saturday, February 1. Results were not submitted.
Swimming
The Sartans swim team competed in a meet at Belen High School on Saturday, February 1. Results were not submitted.
Wrestling
The Sartans wrestling team competed at Albuquerque Academy last Wednesday and also participated in the Albuquerque Metro Championships on Friday and Saturday. Results for both events were not submitted
Middle School
Boys Basketball
The 7th and 6th-grade basketball teams were in action last Wednesday, with the White and Black teams hosting Bosque and the Gold team facing Albuquerque Academy.
- The White team secured a 25-8 victory, led by Lucas Maestas (6th) with 14 points. They also traveled to Albuquerque Academy on Monday, earning a hard-fought win.
- The Black team followed with a 45-28 victory, with Joseph Lopez (7th) leading the charge with 17 points.
- The Gold team wrapped up the night with a 39-11 win over Albuquerque Academy, powered by Parker Grine (6th) with 21 points and Jojo Barboa (6th) adding 11 points. On Monday, the Gold team played a road game at Albuquerque Academy, winning 33-11. Parker Grine (6th) with 31 points, including four 3-pointers.
With multiple teams competing across different levels, the Sartans continue to showcase strong performances as they push forward in their respective seasons.
